The FRELU®-Hergert GmbH is an exclusively stainless steel processing company.
Why does FRELU® use stainless steel for its products?
Indeed, stainless steel is not among the materials with the lowest price, but in the long run it is the most efficient one, since it allows us to process it into robust, durable and hygienic elements having a surface with germicidal effect for in-door and out-door use.

Behaviour of Bacteria on Stainless Steel Surfaces
Our products are mainly used in hospitals, old people's and nursing homes and in the home care sector, with the demand for hygiene and surfaces with a low content of germs playing a very important role especially in hospitals.
In order not to endanger the patients additionally, the risk of developing and propagating infectious diseases has to be reduced drastically. Therefore the process of spreading bacteria via everyday articles has to be interrupted by all means.
For this reason it is important to use everyday articles on which dirt and bacteria don't have any chance to settle and which can be cleaned and disinfected easily.
Hitherto, it is well known that stainless steel can be cleaned and disinfected easily due to its smooth and proper surface. In contrast, it is not known how bacteria behave on a stainless steel surface. This caused us to carry out extensive studies at the Hygienics Institute of Leipzig University, which give information about the number of bacteria on stainless steel. In our experiments we paid particular attention to those bacteria which contribute mainly to infections in hospitals.

Due to the small numbers of surviving bacteria on stainless steel surfaces our products are most suitable for the sanitary area. On the other hand, the use of products made of plastic should be avoided, since the number of surviving germs is much too high. Moreover, plastic surfaces are not sufficiently resistant to contaminations and scratches.
Products which are made of stainless steel 1.4301 have a smooth, proper and shining surface which can be cleaned and disinfected easily. Owing to our new polishing method and new cleaning agents the surface becomes very smooth and hard and is free of porous portions.
